When ex-News of the World and Hello! magazine Editor, Phil Hall, took over as Editorial Director at Trinity Mirror he appointed David Billington as Consultant in the development of a Magazine Division.
On an empty floor at Canary Wharf in Docklands, the magazine division was established and encompassed the national newspaper magazine titles for the Sunday Mirror and Sunday People and the development of a magazine for Scotland's Sunday Mail.
The magazine team also produced the Daily Mirror's 'We Love Telly' and '3am magazine', based on the successful gossip pages from the newspaper and developed other products such as 'Splash' and 'Most' magazines. Billington was Consultant Art Director on all these titles. Phil Hall has since set up his own highly successful PR company, Phil Hall Associates.
